My Wales Bucket List

I am incredibly excited to have begun my Wales Coastal Walk. After my fantastic experience walking the South-West Coastal Walk last year, I have been incredibly determined to pull on my walking boots once again. The time has now come, and I have many adventures planned throughout my journey along the Welsh Coast. Below is my Wales bucket list.

Embarking on long coastal walks may not be for everyone, but Wales is a beautiful place that I recommend everyone to visit at least once in their lifetime. If you’re looking for some activities, walks and general beauty spots to visit in Wales, or even some must-do activities to add to your bucket list, then look no further!

Here are some of my top destinations and activities for you to consider in Wales this summer.

My Wales Bucket List

Snowdonia

Snowdonia is Wales’s largest national park that stretches over 823 square miles, stretches over 23 miles of coastline, and has 9 mountain ranges for you to explore to your heart’s content! I know that Snowdonia is certainly on my personal bucket list, and I can’t wait to get the opportunity to visit it soon.

The perfect way to conclude a busy day enjoying the purity of Welsh wildlife is by taking a dip in one of Snowdon’s waterfalls. There are several beautiful waterfalls in Snowdonia and the perfect place to have a refreshing swim after a long day’s walk!

The World’s Fastest Zip-Line

Are you after a thrilling experience and wish to tick off a serious adventure from your bucket list? Then you can strap yourself in and soar over Penrhyn Quarry on a 1.5km zip line! Velocity 2 will allow you to embark on two hours of thrilling adventure and enjoy the picturesque landscapes of Snowdonia from a bird’s eye view. I did this last month and it was amazing!

Take a visit to Cardigan Bay in Pembrokeshire

Not only is Cardigan Bay a beautiful spot to visit, but why not explore the nature that surrounds Wales? Pembrokeshire coast has the most amazing coastline, rugged with stunning beaches and rock formations. You can create some serious memories by booking a wildlife tour and watching wild dolphins that reside around the island.

The company that offers this amazing opportunity are also a Wildlife Safe Operator. This means they are in recognition of the preservation of wildlife and their tours/sightseeing expeditions do not come at the harm to the wildlife. They are also incredibly green! They encourage all their visitors to recycle and reduce their carbon footprint as much as possible. Book your tour with A Bay to Remember today!

Fossil Hunting off of Glamorgan Coast

If you’re looking for an activity that is less demanding but just as adventurous then why not try fossil hunting off the Glamorgan Coast? You don’t have to be a palaeontologist to enjoy looking for fossils. You can even integrate fossil hunting into a stroll along the beach.

Glamorgan is rich with fossils and is a part of the UK’s Jurassic coastline. It is very common for visitors to find fossilised seashells and ammonites on this beach. You never know, you could find the next big donation to a museum! Try your luck, who knows what could be uncovered next?

Conwy Castle

Is it one of your bucket-list dreams to visit a historical place? Wales is riddled with history, ranging from caves to castles. Conwy Castle is the perfect day out for those of you obsessed with history. You can walk along with the same spires as St George and King Edward the First, whilst discovering the history surrounding the fortress.

Conwy Castle is also a world heritage site, well preserved and great to bring along your family/friends and a picnic! If you keep an eye out on their website, you will also be able to book certain events. Some of which include a day of fun and games, where the town jester will tell you all the stories and tell tales about times long past us.

Visit a Cavern

Take a trip down into the depths by visiting some of Wales’s ancient cave dwellings. From learning the history of cave dwellers to panning for gold, Wales’s caves are the perfect opportunity for you to explore history. It ensures you’ll have fun whilst you’re exploring!

If you’re ready for some fun and wish to unleash your inner child, then you can also visit Bounce Below. Bounce Below is a truly unique experience that allows you to bounce around built-in nets in a slate cavern site! That sounds like the perfect day out.

I truly can’t wait to experience some of the beautiful sights that Wales has to offer me, and I am most excited to keep you all up to date as well! Stay tuned for more bucket-list ideas set along the Welsh Coast and to see everything that I get up to during my walk.
